DAC welcomes Orcom’s new blood
Written by Albert Matayom
Despite the challenges of remote learning, the Department of Arts and Communication successfully welcomed the new blood of BA Organizational Communication and BA Philippine Arts programs through a freshman orientation last September 16. DAC Chair Alice Adeva welcomed the freshies and reassured them that the professors have already prepared their courses for remote delivery. She also introduced the DAC faculty members before OrCom and PhilArts students were transferred to their respective breakout rooms.
In the OrCom breakout room, program coordinator Prof. Chadwick Co Sy Su presented the freshies an overview of the BA Orcom curriculum and its program policies. Prof. Sy Su, along with the other members of the DAC faculty, also addressed the students’ concerns regarding the program, including potential career paths, graduate studies, and internships among others. The session ended with an inspirational message from OrCom graduate AJ Perez, who emphasized that “your journey will be successful if you know where you are going”.
In the second half of the breakout room session, the freshies were introduced to Organizational Communication Society, the home organization of BA OrCom majors. President John Marie Lema and the other officers welcomed the freshies by introducing the organization and explaining its mission. The freshies were invited to join the organization, which can serve as their support group during their stay within the university.
