This is a road Gabby almost walked on.
Written by Gabrielle Fontanilla
At one point in my life, I almost decided to travel on the road most traveled on
It healed the people’s minds and hearts and helped them make their worries gone
I wanted to become an instrument of healing as well as to become healed myself
But when I chose to follow my true calling, it was like showing my true self
Finally, my passion for writing and journalism has now prevailed
Where I am allowing myself to grow and have newly developed skills unveiled
And, if you were to ask me, this is the road that was worth taking.
This is a road Alicia almost walked on.

Look at the bees, buzzing in delight, in OrCom Ville, many paths reside.
Oh that seems a flowery road to take, a smooth road with no bumps to break.
I yearn to venture on that road, yet my heart bears a heavy load.
Oh, I won’t be misled by a lie, my heart sighs, in God’s grace, the road may challenge, but I’ll rise, I’d rather face the bumps with Him by my side, than live with regrets, in fear or in pride.
This is a road oyo almost walked on.

I initially passed BS Agriculture, my dream program. However, in an ironic
twist of fate, I now study at the UP campus that I had no idea existed. Perhaps
it was kismet’s fault. Nevertheless, I gained friends who incessantly guide me
to find solace in this tiring attempt to reap success, and, consequently, the
development of fecund seed that I have sown is vigorously growing.
Planting a seed in a filthy environment seems improbable. Notwithstanding,
my germination as a first-year at UP Manila attests that plants still grow
amidst adversity.
