Written by Annabella Garcia

For us Filipinos, sulit and tipid are definitely the way to go! Nothing gets us more excited than hearing that Megamall is throwing in a 3-day weekend sale or the words “budget” and “friendly” together in a single sentence. As hardworking folks, of course we only deserve our money’s worth, especially if us students. We got you covered for your next budget-friendly break.

To commemorate our first ever OrComida: Food Crawl series, we are starting off with a place very dear to our hearts, Robinsons Place Manila (#BARobinsonsPlaceManila). Forget about SM, this mall’s got it all for you. From high end restaurants to student friendly establishments, this mall can satisfy all your cravings.

If you’re feeling Japanese: Karate Kid

With meals averaging P150 and their wide array of combo meals, Karate Kid is your place to go if you have a craving for gyudon, katsudon, tepanyaki, ramen, or even maki at an affordable price. Did someone say unlimited rice? Count us in.

If you’re feeling Korean: Bonchon

From here on, it’s definitely Bonchon! Hailing from South Korea, their P99 one-piece chicken (P155, for the two-piece) in soy garlic, spicy, honey citrus, or crunch garlic, with drinks included has saved the wallets of students many times.

Bulgogi? Bibimbap? Chapchae? Bonchon can definitely satisfy your quick Korean fix.

If you’re feeling Chinese: Chowking

Don’t just take our word for it, take even Kris Aquino’s when she says “I love it!” A one-piece Chinese style chicken for only P90? Not to mention their four-piece lumpiang Shanghai with rice and drinks for P98; and their sweet and sour fish meal for P109? Don’t forget the family meals you can share with the entire barkada. What’s not to “love, love, love?”

If you’re feeling Italian: Sbarro

With more than 800 branches all over the world, Sbarro is the closest (and cheapest) New York pizza (as low as P50) you are ever going to get during your thirty-minute break. If you’re not in the mood for just regular pizza, you should get their stuffed pizza instead, which is big enough for two people to share, or maybe, their baked ziti.

If you’re feeling Filipino: Adobo Connection

If you are the type of person who absolutely adores unlimited rice, then Adobo Connection should be the other budget-friendly restaurant that you have to put on your list. If you are also the type of person who absolutely adores all kinds of adobo, even down to adobo flakes, then Adobo Connection is the one for you.

So here are our list of recommendations that will satisfy your world cravings, on a budget. ‘Til next time, comida buddies.
