OrComida: Midtown Diner

Written by Marri Cagande

Tucked neatly at the corner where the streets of Padre Faura and Bocobo converge lies a quaint little diner that has been serving American and Filipino-style meals for patrons since the 1970s. With its quiet and relaxing ambient, anyone who wishes for a chill environment to eat a good meal at will definitely add the Midtown Diner in their list of go-to places to eat.

Midtown Diner offers a wide array of delicious meals on their menu. They serve Filipino and American breakfast, the former offering a viand of your choice with garlic rice, an egg, and brewed coffee. They also serve appetizers, pasta, pizza, sandwiches or burgers, and of course desserts. For such a small diner, it sure packs a lot of offers in its menu.

The Diner also offers Midtown Set Meals which is a cheaper alternative to having a full Dish or Short Order. The Midtown Set Meals though are only offered at certain times, usually in the afternoon.

What I’d recommend from the Diner that I come back to again and again is their Pancakes with Bacon, with a side of either coffee or Iced tea. The pancakes are so fluffy, thick, and filling that sometimes it’s a struggle to finish it without being unable to stand up afterwards. What’s good about ordering their Pancakes too is that it isn’t only available in the morning hours! So, if you’re having a slow morning, a.k.a. you woke up late, you’d still be able to come into the Diner and be greeted by the soft bed of fluffy pancakes.

Aside from the delicious meals that they offer, they also have an outstanding staff that are courteous and nice to patrons. They are trained very well that when asked about food in their menu, they’re very willing to describe the meal you ask about. So, if you ever come by don’t forget to tip these lovely staff members!

Over-all, Midtown Inn & Diner is a surprising little gem of Padre Faura. With great staff and service, great food, and a wonderful atmosphere, I’m sure once you’ve tried the Diner you’re going to come back for more. It does help that the Diner looks pretty, especially at night with the neon lights and table booths and the bar. So, if you’re looking for a place to eat, then come by at Midtown Inn & Diner.
