Muse
Written by Jelou Galang
“I softly hum into the night while I listen to your piece
At dawn, I’ll hold on to your music as it plays in my dreams
Your fingers pull my tight strings making me scream a lovely whine
I’ll give you all of my words to hear you sing a song that is only mine
I softly hum a few notes into the night while I read you in a new lyrical piece
At dawn, I hold on to your ending music as it loudly plays in all of my dreams
I wish to wrap my bare soul with your low-pitched melody of us all afternoon
Watch your hands paint my skin raw with your borrowed colored tunes
Dusk brings a smile on my lips as I feel your nerves over your rests and sharps
While I listen to your voice beautifully serenade another woman’s heart
Your fingers unknowingly pull my strings, making me scream a lovely whine
I will still give you all of my words if only to hear you sing a song that is only mine”
Music is magical. They say it’s a universal language—no matter where you come from, you’ll understand it.
This beautiful poem about music and heartbreak was written by our very own Majorlene Gabionza, 3rd Year OrCom Student. Through musical allegories, the poem brings to life the story of a girl listening in, from the outside; watching the person she loves, love someone else.
The painful reality is, we’ve all been through that, either personally or vicariously. Sometimes, life isn’t so much a serenade, but a piangendo tune that you wish would just end. But, as OrCom and UP students, giving up should never be an option.
Whether in love or acads, success is always just a stone’s throw away. After all, OrCom students are jacks of all trades who love with all their hearts.
