Make Way for the Laborers on their Day
Written by Restoni Goyala
Have you ever wondered how they appeared in the market? Who made them and how they were made?
From your favorite drink to your favorite snacks. From your favorite tv series to your fancy little novelties.
CS (aka Common Sense) Statistics shows that 100% of these favorites were made by someone. And that ‘someone’ invested labor into those products and services. Imagine browsing Netflix without anything to watch. Imagine visiting Minute Burger without the burgers. Pretty much everything in town is empty. And the only thing filling up the malls is emptiness.
The world came to what it is right now because of hard work. Perhaps it was only during this time of pandemic that you realize the significance of our workforce. As our economy dropped, and everything, from food deliveries to film showing, were either indefinitely postponed or cancelled. Classroom education, small businesses, and travel are few of the industries severely affected by the pandemic and are forced to find other ways to keep it alive.
In the battlefield—fighting off the deadly virus are our front liners, dedicated to restoring our country to its former glory, as much as we cannot revert the damages it has done to our society.
While the heroes in white gowns risk their lives to keep the casualties minimal, it would not be an exaggeration to say that some of us are safe and sound in the comforts of our own homes. It would seem as if, the only contributions of majority of the population is their head count in the daily number of COVID cases.
From the safe haven that is our home, we can at least take a minute to appreciate those who are dedicated to protecting our motherland. Without their efforts, our daily struggles may welcome our ends to our doors.
Life is hard, but it is harder if you don’t fight for it, if you are always searching for the easy way out. As years pass, we will be delegated with the responsibility to keep our cities alive, and our country flourishing; we, the youth filled with dreams, passion, and duty to serve.
