Thrift shops are really just anywhere and everywhere today. To add to that, people realizing the potential of this trend are very much doing everything that they can to make the industry omnipresent, which is not at all bad.

With that said, if you have yet to notice the candid and creative benefits of buying second hand apparel, here they are:

Let’s start with the obvious one (and perhaps the one we love the most, right?)

Oversized, Loose, Unorthodox, and just plain endearing. These are the qualities that define second hand clothing fashion and somehow these features just seeped into our consciousness and all of a sudden we just couldn’t stop ourselves from craving that look.

Seriously, we can’t stop. We need help.

When I was a kid, wearing skinny jeans was not just a trend, it was a religion, it was a requirement. Being the very resourceful kid that I was, instead of just heading to the mall to buy a pair of skinny jeans, I would head to the passilios of Baguio. Before Harrison and Session, there was Abanao and I grew up buying second hand pants here only to send them to a tailor asking them to turn it into skinny jeans.

I had so much skinny jeans made back then and I think my thigh’s measurements are still embedded in the minds of the tailors up to this day.

You get the point, right? The world is your canvas – or your second hand clothes at least.
