Twelfth of July

Written by Marielle Iarathelle Trinidad

I’ve promised the stars

I’ll fix my scars.

But let me write my word,

To you who came on twelfth of July

The only one who brightened my sky.

For you who I loved the first

I’ve dedicated you my heart

My words and my tears

Started setting aside my fears.

I’ll start with how much I loved

Every single piece and thing

From the exceptional and screwed

The amusing and annoying

I loved how your eyes shone

Your arms always felt like home

From your smile down through you

I think I’ll just love everything you do

Incessantly, I’ll just look at you

A face without hesitation

Through the world full of hues,

You took on a huge portion.

I never thought we’d ever

Reach a point of never.

I still thank you for that story,

And for everything, I’m always sorry.

Remind yourself that someone,

Out there, trusts you more than her own.

You may be imperfect in every turn,

But you were the best I could’ve sworn.

I think I’ve burdened you so much

Being always under your watch

Don’t worry, I’ll do my best

To fix my life, even without you in the rest

Maybe, this is the end.

But I promise to love you till the last

I need some fixing, I need to mend

But, you’ll always be the best of my past.
