The Organizational Communication Society (OrComSoc) once again gathered at Rizal Hall 303 for this year’s Buddy System. Held on October 21, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the event brought together freshmen and upperclassmen for an evening of games, interactions, and camaraderie.
The Buddy System is an annual event organized by OrComSoc to welcome the newest batch of OrCom freshmen into the community. This year, the event embraced a fiesta-inspired theme, as colorful banderitas decorated the room and music played throughout the evening.
At the start of the program, freshmen were welcomed with warm greetings. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors were paired as buddies with freshmen to encourage mentorship and connection. A lineup of games was organized to develop collaboration and teamwork among the pairs.
Participants first competed in a telepathy challenge, where buddies tried to match answers based on given prompts to test their understanding of each other. This was followed by “Pass the Number Through Actions,” in which participants were divided into two groups, or barangays, and engaged in acting, guessing, and team cheering. The final game, “Salo-salong Kwento,” tested participants’ storytelling skills and creativity by encouraging pairs to build creative narratives together.
Through these activities, students from different year levels and backgrounds were able to connect and work together. This event reflects the OrCom Week’s theme, CommuniFest, by focusing on community, collaboration, and teamwork.
As the festivities concluded with a small food gathering, the atmosphere of the fiesta was kept alive all the way to the event’s close.
Indeed, a journey shared is a journey made lighter. The Buddy System is a reminder that experiences are always richer when shared with a companion. Every laugh and every small win that night reflected what the fiesta stood for: community, connection, and the joy of being part of something bigger than oneself.
