How is it different from other communication courses?
BA Organizational Communication seeks to address the ever-increasing demand for expertise in modern communication as related to organizations in the Philippines. It presents a holistic perspective of organizational dynamics in the modern century by focusing on organization-related communication skills.
Because communication is a complex process in itself and a vital factor in the shaping of human ecologies, the importance of strengthening efficiency and effectiveness in communication cannot be overemphasized especially in organizational structures where needs are highly technical.
Thus the entire program concentrates on the integration of written-oral skills and not just the mastery of either oral delivery or writing style as separate abilities. Furthermore, the audio-visual component in the curriculum aims to encourage the students to employ all the modern persuasive tools that make for effective communication.

BA ORCOM IN UP MANILA
Department Orientation
The beginning of your OrCom journey starts here! The department orientation is a welcoming program for OrCom freshies held at the start of the first semester. They are introduced to the curriculum and the college life in store for them!
DAC Week
A week-long celebration of the courses under the Department of Arts and Communication. This event gives an opportunity for OrCom majors to showcase their talents in the performing arts and in other communication fields through cosplay and Sabayang Pagbigkas. Last 2020, students were given the fun challenge to use an OPM song for their piece.
Conference Project
The OrComference is one of the highlights in every OrCom major’s college journey in UP Manila. The culminating project is taken by 3rd year studens for the course Speech 137. The class focuses on group communication, conflict management, and effective group leadership to prepare students in managing organizational functions. OrCom majors then get to apply all of their learnings by hosting their own conference!
Internship Experience
Taken in the 3rd year of the OrCom program, students apply to organizations and companies which fits their skill set and the course requirement. The internship or practicum serves as a stepping stone to discovering their career path after graduating.
