Last October 1, the Organizational Communication Society (OrComSoc) held its very first face-to-face OrComlympics since the pandemic.

Days before the event, the players were instructed to wear shirt colors corresponding to their year level. The freshmen wore green while the sophomores wore yellow. Red and blue were the colors of the juniors and seniors, respectively. To distinguish themselves from the rest of the participants, the executive committee and logistics team dressed in white.

Jia Jarin and Mikay Gonzalez, both OrCom seniors, were the hosts and head facilitators of OrComlympics 2022.

The sports event consisted of four games. The first game was the T-shirt Relay followed by Walking on a Minefield, Human Sungka, and lastly, Catch the Dragon’s Tail.

The tournament kicked off with the freshies and sophomores competing against each other. Although the sophies won against the freshies during the second game, the first years triumphed against them overall. The race against the juniors and seniors followed suit. It was a cutthroat match since they tied after three games. A tie-breaker later hailed the juniors winner.

The game employed a single-elimination method so the freshies and juniors, who were both winners from the previous rounds, competed one last time for the coveted championship title.

For the finals, the freshmen and juniors only played Human Sungka and Catch the Dragon’s Tail. The intensity was palpable in the air as both groups easily caught up with each other. However, both teams showed their very competitive OrCom spirit, and only one group prevailed. The freshies were crowned OrComlympics 2022 champions.

Aside from the champions, three players were also recognized as the tourney’s most valuable players (MVP). They were Marcus Calalo and Trojan Rosh Sealongo, who were both juniors, and Felix Bert Yaona, a freshman.

To conclude the event, this year’s freshie batch representatives and junior executives (JEs) were introduced and awarded their certificates. Present during the event were Jean Baguion and Athena Salumbides who were announced as freshie batch representatives, Murielle Daet who is announced as the JE for Memberships, Jill Añonuevo as JVP for Finance, Leanne Irish Livelo as JE for Events, and Jannah Aguilus who is named JE for Publicity. Although not around, Kirsten Velasquez was recognized as Junior Executive Secretary and Jedidiah Villanueva as JE for Sponsorships.
