OrComSoc hosts its first SHS campaign
Written by Elissa Cirio
Last November 17, 2021 OrComSoc hosted its first senior high school campaign, attended by Grade 12 HUMSS students of the UP Integrated School (UPIS) via Zoom.
The program entitled OrCom Along with Me: Discovering the world of OrCom, is a campaign that aims to increase Grade 12 students’ awareness about the Organizational Communication program of UP Manila.
OrComSoc president Gellen Esposo, alumni of UPIS, extended her heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Anthony Joseph C. Ocampo, the principal of UPIS, for approving the event. She also thanked Prof. Sharon Rose Aguila, Learning Coordinator of the SSH track, and Catherine C. Atordido, Program Adviser for the HUMSS Track, for graciously arranging the event.
More than 30 students attended the program the OrComSoc executive committee members, Gelleen Esposo, Mikayla Gonzales, Elycia Deang, Elissa Cirio, and Thea Bermudez, were the speakers for the event. The program tackled the OrCom Edge, its course description, subjects offered, career opportunities, and even testimonials from alumni. The speakers also gave first-hand accounts of how OrCom helped them develop their potential and be career-ready.
An open forum was conducted at the end of the program for the students to get to know the program more. One student asked if the course would be a good fit for introverts. This was immediately answered by Elycia Deang, VP for Events, pointing out that the course also gives importance to intrapersonal communication as much as interpersonal.
The event was a success and the executive committee hopes that it continues to be a program hosted by OrComSoc to spark the interest of more students to take up BA Organizational Communication at college.
If you are interested in OrComSoc to visit your school to get an introduction to the course you may email orcomsoc.upmanila@gmail.com or directly contact any of their social media accounts.
