Written by Mac Montoya

As a music-loving generation, we have our own favorite playlists—to listen to while reviewing, to celebrate a passing grade with, or even for just commuting!

But what if we make a playlist out of our sometimes sad, socio-academic-eaten lives?

DUN DUN DUN.

Being a music lover, I’ve taken on the challenge of finding songs with the PERFECT lyrics that most OrCom students can relate to. Although mind you, I am only a freshie and have only gone through few OrCom life processes—including staying up until 5 AM to review for a quiz, and failing it. #buHAY

Pero mamaya na tayo magsenti-sentihan! For now, I present to you the…

The Top 5 Songs Applicable to an OrCom Student’s Life!

Sila by SUD

Famous Lyrics: “Walang sagoooot! Sa tanoooong!” PERIOD.

Commonly sung during: times with unanswered prayers—este questions in a quiz or an exam that you studied for, with answers that seem far from existing. Walang sagot, indeed.

Walang Hanggan by Quest

Famous Lyrics: Don’t just choose one line. Pwede whole song gamitin. Grabe eh. Pwede ring pang #feels. 😉

Commonly sung during: times when you give your best, but it’s not enough. Kapag nag-effort sa paper, pero pagbalik… eh bes, anuna. This song has good parts like “ngingiti sa likod sa luhang pumupunit” which means that you have to the smile through the tears, knowing that in the end, it’ll all be worth it. ☺ #gvlangguyz

I’ll Make a Man Out of You by Donny Osmund from Disney’s Mulan

Famous Lyrics: “We must be swift as a coursing river, with all the force of a great typHOOOON, with all the strength of a RAGING FIREEE. MYSTERIOUS AS THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOOOOOON!” *ehem*

Commonly sung during: TIMES OF GIVING UP! I’m sure most of us have experienced the feeling of wanting to give up not only on acads, but also on a personal level. Needing to be strong when you don’t is normal. But we have to be strong when it’s needed; or at least tell yourself that you are. Believe that you can get through everything. ☺

Let it Go by James Bay

Famous Lyrics: “Everything that’s broke, leave it to the breeze.”

Commonly sung during: times when there’s a lot to do and it’s stressing you out. Relax lang. Do it one by one and don’t cram. Nice and easy is the way to go. Know what your priorities are so that you can start doing them first. Summon your inner James Bay.

Fix You by Coldplay

Famous Lyrics: “But if you never try you’ll never know just what you’re worth, Lights will guide you home…”

Lyrics palang, boom na. Hahaha!

Commonly sung during: Well…you can sing it whenever you feel down. Friends and family are forever. OrCom isn’t only a course—it’s where you meet the brothers and sisters God forgot to give you. They’re the people who will see you at your lowest and will help you get back up. They’re the people who will see you at your best, and will cheer you on. Alam mo naman paano magmahal ang OrCom student—lubos yan. 😉
